How XGov Works

XGov empowers public sector staff networks through three core elements:

  • Automated Email-Based Sign-Up Form: Streamlines joining networks for seamless onboarding of new members and maintenance of membership lists. 

  • Secure Collaboration Platform: Utilises secure channels on MS Teams for safe, efficient communication.

  • Gold Standard Framework: Sets a benchmark for network excellence.​

These elements enable departmental and cross-public sector networks to connect, grow, and thrive. As a free, independent service for public servants across the Civil Service, Local Government, NHS, and beyond, XGov fosters vibrant communities dedicated to collaboration, innovation, equity, and impact.

For Network Members​

Joining networks is simple and fast:

​

  1. Select Networks: Members choose communities aligned with their interests or goals, including those supporting diversity or professional expertise.

  2. Initiate Participation: After registering via an automated sign-up process, members receive a welcome email from XGov within 24 hours. Network leaders may contact prospective members directly to confirm participation, send welcome packs or meeting invites, or verify eligibility.

  3. Engage and Collaborate: Members connect with peers, share insights, and invite colleagues to join.

For Network Leaders​

Leading a network is supported by robust tools and recognition:

​

  1. Register the Network: Leaders register using an automated sign-up tool, receiving a welcome email within 24 hours to access the secure platform. Leaders are automatically invited to the exclusive XGov Network Leaders Group for peer support and exclusive benefits. 

  2. Pursue Gold Standard Accreditation: Leaders align their network with the XGov Gold Standard Network Framework’s pillars—People, Purpose, Progress, Performance. A short application form, supported by linked evidence, is submitted to the XGov Board of Trustees for review. Outcomes may take up to six weeks. 

  3. Earn Recognition: Accredited networks receive Digital Accreditation Badges, exclusive benefits, and ongoing support, showcasing their commitment to excellence. Leaders may be invited to pursue the XGov Gold Standard Network Leader’s Accreditation, recognising exceptional leadership. All leaders will be invited to the attend the annual XGov Staff Network Awards. â€‹

XGov supports employees of public sector institutions at both local and national levels.
